---|---|---|---|---|
| T-Wolves | Anthony Edwards | SG – Georgia – Ht – 6-5 – Wt – 235 – Wing – 6-9 – Fr – The Wolves tried their hardest to find a good trade but ended up staying at no.1 and taking the most explosive offensive player in the draft in Anthony Edwards. This team should have elite offensive production but will have to buy-in on the defensive end to take the next step as a franchise. | A- |
| Warriors | James Wiseman | C – Memphis – Ht – 7-1 – Wt – 247 – Wing – 7-4 1/2 – Fr – James Wiseman has a chance to be a truly elite player in the League. It might take him some time but betting on his elite upside makes a lot of sense for the Warriors. This pick will give the Warriors a whole new dimension. | A+ |
| Hornets | LaMelo Ball | PG – USA – Ht – 6-7 – Wt – 190 – Wing – 6-10 – Int.01 – This should be a fun experiment in Charlotte. Ball will be handed the reins early on and have a very high usage rate. For a team in a small market that doesn’t always get a lot of attention this will change that in a hurry. | A |
| Bulls | Patrick Williams | PF – Florida State – Ht – 6-8 – Wt – 225 – Wing – 6-11 – Fr – The Bulls fell in love with Williams and make him the no. 4 pick in the draft, capping a huge rise over the course of the last few months. There were plenty of rumors that the Bulls want to trade up for Wiseman but in the end they stay put and get their guy at no.4 | B+ |
| Cavs | Isaac Okoro | SF – Auburn – Ht – 6-6 – Wt – 225 – Wing – 6-9 – Fr – The Cavs get a much needed defensive upgrade with Okoro, who might be the best defender in the draft. Okoro really compliments the other young pieces the Cavs have in place and will fill a much needed hole on the wing. His offensive game is a bit underrated, especially his play-making, and he should be able to contribute early on. | A |
| Hawks | Onyeka Okongwu | C – USC – Ht – 6-9 – Wt – 220 – Wing – 7-1 – Fr – The Hawks get a rugged interior defender, rebounder and an emerging offensive talent in Onyeka. His upside is as high as any player in the draft and this is a really good pick up at no.6. There’s a bit of a logjam at PF/C in ATL but the top talent will rise to the top – and it also allows the Hawks to bring OO along slowly and let him develop. | A |
| Pistons | Killian Hayes | PG – France – Ht – 6-5 – Wt – 215 – Wing – 6-7 – Int.01 – The Pistons get their PG in Killian Hayes, a player who had one of the widest draft ranges of any player in this draft. He needs to improve his shooting, off hand dribble and athleticism but is a heady player and a nice fit in Detroit. | B |
| Knicks | Obi Toppin | PF – Dayton – Ht – 6-9 – Wt – 220 – Wing – 7-2 – So The Knicks finally have something go their way, with Obi falling to them at no.8. Yes, his defense needs to improve but the offensive talent is real and he’ll be a great addition up front in NYC. | A |
| Wizards | Deni Avdija | SF – Israel – Ht – 6-8 – Wt – 210 – Wing – 6-9 1/2 – Int.01 – Deni falls through the cracks and all the way to D.C. where the Wizards get a steal at no.9. Deni is a special talent, a big play-making wing who can play along side Rui and bring a lot of creative energy to the Wizards offense. | A+ |
| Suns | Jalen Smith | PF – Maryland – Ht – 6-10 1/4 – Wt – 224 – Wing – 7-2 1/4 – So – The Suns add Jalen Smith, a perfect fit at power forward next to Ayton. Smith can stretch the floor block shots and has a ton of versatility. This is a bit higher than most projected him to go but makes a lot of sense for the Suns. | B+ |
| Spurs | Devin Vassell | SG – Florida State – Ht – 6-6 – Wt – 180 – Wing – 6-10 – So – Vassell just seems like a Spur – a team first, versatile, defensive minded wing who will play the game the right way. His 3pt shooting will be maximized by the Spurs ball movement. Nice pick up at no.11. | A |
| Kings | Tyrese Haliburton | PG – Iowa State – Ht – 6-5 – Wt – 170 – Wing – 6-8+ – So – The Kings get one of the better players in the draft at no.12, and a perfect fit next to Fox. Hali does everything well and will be able to contribute from day one. Congrats to Kings fans for landing a stud. | A+ |
| Pelicans | Kira Lewis Jr. | PG – Alabama – HT: 6-3 – WT: 165 – WING: 6-7 – So. – This is an ideal landing spot for Kira who will bring his blazing speed to the up tempo Pelicans team. Kira and Zion on the fast break will be electric! | B+ |
| Celtics (from Grizzlies) | Aaron Nesmith | SF – Vanderbilt – Ht – 6-6 – Wt – 213 – Wing – 6-9 – So – The Celtics get an elite shooter in Aaron Nesmith, who should be able to play a key role early on, spacing the floor for Tatum and Brown. | B+ |
| Magic | Cole Anthony | PG – UNC – Ht – 6-3 – Wt – 185 – Wing – 6-3 1/2 – Fr – The Magic are finally set at PG with the addition of a special talent in Cole Anthony. Him and Fultz will share ball handling duties and give the Magic a lot of excitement in the backcourt. | B+ |
| Detroit (from Rockets, Blazers) | Isaiah Stewart | PF – Washington – Ht – 6-8 1/2 – Wt – 243 – Wing – 7-4 3/4 – Fr – Stewart is pro-ready big who should be in the league for a decade+. He’s not the most sexy pick in the draft but the Pistons are getting a rock solid player who can help rebuild a winning culture in Detroit. | B |
| Thunder (from Wolves, Nets) | Aleksej Pokusevski | PF – Serbia – Ht – 7-0 – Wt – 201 – Wing – 7-3 – Int01 – This is such a Thunder pick, swinging for the fences on a high upside talent like Poku. He might take a year or two to be ready for the League but he’s got a chance to be really good. He fits perfectly with the long-view timeline in OKC. | B |
| Mavs | Josh Green | SG – Arizona (Australia) – Ht – 6-5 1/2 – Wt – 214 – Wing – 6-9 3/4 – Fr – Green is a great fit for what the Mavs are doing, bringing outstanding defense, athleticism and some offensive upside as well. | B |
| Pistons (from Clippers, Nets, 76ers) | Saddiq Bey | SF – Villanova – Ht – 6-8 – Wt – 216 – Wing – 6-11 – So – The Pistons are stacking some nice talent with Hayes, Stewart and now Saddiq Bey. The rebuild is in full swing and they’ll give there young talent plenty of minutes to develop next year. Luke Kennard goes to the Clippers as part of this deal. | A |
| Heat | Precious Achiuwa | PF – Memphis – Ht – 6-8 3/4 – Wt – 234 – Wing – 7-0 3/4 – Fr – Precious has big time upside and is just scratching the surface of his potential. He’s a versatile defender, an elite floor runner who brings a ton of energy to the court. | A+ |
| 76ers (from Thunder) | Tyrese Maxey | PG – Kentucky – Ht – 6-3 – Wt – 195 – Wing – 6-5 1/2 – Fr – The Sixers get a legit scorer who can take it to the rim, score through contract and can also light it up from downtown (his college numbers don’t do him justice). | A |
| Nuggets (from Rockets) | Zeke Nnaji | PF – Arizona – Ht – 6-10 1/2 – Wt – 247 – Wing – 7-2 – Fr – The Nuggets get just what they need, depth up front and a high energy compliment to Jokic. Nnaji does all the dirty work and plays with great effort. | B+ |
| T-Wolves (from Knicks, Jazz) | Leandro Bolmaro | PG – Barcelona (Argentina) – HT: 6-7 – WT: 185 – WING: NA – Int.00 – The Wolves get a high upside draft and stash player who is a great play-maker at 6-7 and a feisty competitor. Bolmaro is a crowd-pleaser who brings it on both ends of the floor. | A- |
| Nuggets (from Pels, Bucks, Pacers) | R.J. Hampton | SG – NZ Breakers (NBL) – Ht – 6-5 – Wt – 185 – Wing – 6-7 – Int01 – Hampton fell a bit farther than expected but lands in a great situation in Denver where he’ll be able to play alongside some great passers and play-makers. | A |
| Knicks (from Thunder, Nuggets) | Immanuel Quickley | SG – Kentucky – HT: 6-4 – WT: 180 – WING: 6-8 1/4 – So – One of the first surprises in the draft, as Quickley was expected to go mid second, but gets a Kentucky bounce. He’s a lights out shooter who fits with what the league values most, 3pt shooting. | B |
| Celtics | Payton Pritchard | PG – Oregon – Ht – 6-1 – Wt – 195 – Wing – NA – Sr – Payton fits in Boston like a glove, bringing tough-nosed and aggressive defense and big time shot making. This pick makes a lot of sense. | B |
| Jazz (from Knicks, Clippers) | Udoka Azubuike | C – Kansas – HT: 6-11 1/2 – WT: 259 – WING: 7-7 1/4 – Sr – Udoka is an old school big who lives in the lane but could struggle some with the pace of play at the NBA level. We saw him as more of a second round pick but he’ll have a nice landing spot in Utah, getting to learn behind one of the best. | B- |
| T-Wolves (from Thunder, Lakers) | Jaden McDaniels | SF – Washington – Ht – 6-10 – Wt – 180 – Wing – 6-11 – Fr – Jaden is an elite talent who still has a lot to learn and needs to grow up a bit but his upside is through the roof. | B+ |
| Raptors | Malachi Flynn | PG – San Diego State – HT: 6-2 – WT: 175 – WING: NA – Jr – Well, Fred Van Vleet might be out the door but the Raptors get an ideal replacement in Flynn, who does a lot of the same things and brings it on both ends. | A |
| Grizzlies (from Celtics, Bucks) | Desmond Bane | SG – TCU – Ht – 6-6 – Wt – 215 – Wing – 6-4 – Sr – The final pick of the first round is one of the best shooters in the draft and a great passer too, who will fit well next to Ja in Memphis. Bane is a hard worker and a guy who plays the game the right way. Nice pick at no. 30. | A+ |
