BORN: 1/28/98 | YEAR: Sr. | WING: NA | REACH: NA |
Draft Notes
Payton is a bit undersized but has good strength and plays with a lot of heart. He’s a winner and a big shot maker who loves the big moments of the game.
He’s aggressive with the ball in his hands and drives the ball hard into the lane, putting a ton of pressure on the defense.
He’s a creative shot maker who can hang in the air and hit floaters, runners and layups, and he also has good vision when driving the ball, using the one-handed live-dribble pass and hook pass to find open teammates.
Payton’s scoring really picked up his senior year (over 20ppg) and his outside shooting took a big step and was much more consistent (over 41% from 3).
He’s an aggressive defender who shows his leadership skills, rallying his teammates and leading by example. Even though he’s a bit undersized he can hold his own at the point of attack, using his strength, quick feet and aggressiveness. He gives 100% effort all the time.
