Scouting Notes From the 2026 McDonald’s All American Game

This was a fun and competitive game with some nice talent on display. This 2026 recruiting class has a bunch of dudes who will be role players at the next level but it might take them some time before being draft ready.

The top of the recruiting class has a few guys who are loaded with talent but aren’t on the level of being clear-cut one and done guys who will be franchise players at the next level.

I see a lot of guys who will stay in school for a few years and who will eventually get a shot at the NBA.

West Roster

Maximo Adams – SF – Sierra Canyon (North Carolina) – A big, versatile wing who plays both ends. Missed the game with an ankle injury.

JJ Andrews – SF – Little Rock Christian Academy (Arkansas) – An energy wing who competes and plays both ends. Really gets after it. He’s just a baller, it doesn’t matter which setting he’s in, he brings it.

Christian Collins – SF – St. John Bosco (USC) – A great mover and can really get off the ground. An upside talent who is oozing potential. Can really move up and down the court and play above the rim. Flashes wing skills and what he can be in the future. Not the smoothest shooter and is more of a line-drive shooter.

Quinn Costello – PF – The Newman School (Michigan) – Has a strap. Great size for a shooter and moves well. Has a ton of talent and I probably have him way underrated.

Jason Crowe Jr. – PG/SG – Inglewood (Missouri) – A big time scorer who did a good job of looking to pass and play-make. Tends to be a high volume guy and will have to be more efficient. Not the biggest guy and will have to figure out the point guard position if he’s going to maximize his NBA value. Has some Lou Williams in his game and some Cam Thomas in his game but with better passing vision.

Arafan Diane – C – Iowa United Prep (Houston) – Moves well for his size. A true post player and kind of a throw-back big. I think he’ll be in school for a few years working on his body and his game before attempting to jump into the draft. Really intriguing long-term upside.

Caleb Gaskins – SF – Columbus (Miami) – Has a mature game. Highly skilled. Not the most explosive but plays with poise and can get to his spots. A hard worker who benefits from his hustle and hard play.

Austin Goosby – SG – Dynamic Prep (Texas) – A fluid mover with good length. Looks the part but didn’t do a whole lot in this game. Is a role player type but can be really good in that off-ball role. Gets off the ground with ease and has length allowing him to play way above the rim.

Caleb Holt – SG – Prolific Prep (Arizona) – Speedy, quick, not the biggest guy but competes hard. Stands out on the defensive end. Looks like a role player rather than a first option/star. Hit some really impressive contested shots and definitely looks like a future NBA player.

Brandon McCoy Jr. – PG/SG – Sierra Canyon – A big time athlete who can really fly up and down the court and play above the rim. Not a shooter but attempted some 3’s, which is good to see. You can see the upside with the way he moves. If he can refine his game and put it all together he’ll be a really nice NBA player.

Tyran Stokes – SF – Rainier Beach – A powerhouse of an athlete but doesn’t necessarily stand out for a guy who is widely considered the top guy in the class. Is probably more of a second or third star player rather than a franchise guy. A streaky shooter and a high flyer. Passes the ball really well and can play some point-forward. Has been battling a back injury and didn’t have his full explosiveness in this game.

Cameron Williams – PF – St. Mary’s (Duke) – Not afraid to let it fly. Moves really well for his size. Has upside but is not nearly as far along as top guys from previous classes. It’ll be interesting to watch his developmental curve at Duke next year. Looks to be a potentially great floor-space for a big but will need to play tough inside.

East Roster

Latrell Allmond – PF – Petersburg High (Oklahoma State) – Looks like a guy who will be a really good college player. A bit of a tweener who might not have a lot of NBA upside but will make really good NIL money over four years. Competes hard and is a bruiser and a baller.

Darius Bivins – PG – Bishop O’Connell – Crafty with the dribble and super quick but doesn’t have the size to be a NBA guy unless he develops into an other-worldly shooter and defender.

Bruce Branch III – SF – Prolific Prep (BYU) – Silky smooth. A pure shooter with such a good looking stroke. Didn’t really assert himself and might be more of a complimentary player. His polished game isn’t really made for an All Star game setting.

Toni Bryant – PF – Southeastern Prep (Missouri) – Nice looking stroke from downtown. Hit a few early threes. Has impressive length but needs to fill out. An upside player but probably more of a long-term guy. Can really get above the rim.

Jasiah Jervis – SG – Archbishop Stepinac (Michigan State) – A two-way player who has been one of the standout players this week. Plays with poise and gets after it on both ends. Has a pure jumper.

Taylen Kinney – PG – Overtime Elite (Kansas) – A smart, mature player. Really knows how to play. Not the biggest or most athletic but is just a nature ball player who makes it look easy.

Adonis Ratliff – PF – Archbishop Stepinac (USC) – Injured an ankle in practice and did not play in the game.

Darius Ratliff – C – Archbishop Stepinac (USC) – Moves well but needs to add strength. You can see the upside but it looks like he’ll be a multi-year college player.

Jaxon Richardson – SF – Southeastern Prep (Alabama) – The slam dunk champion is a true high-riser with all the tools but will have to continue to refine his game and mature as a player. I think he’s a two or three year college guy. Has the potential to be a big time defender once he fills out his frame.

Deron Rippey Jr. – PG – Blair Academy (Duke) – A speed merchant. Gets downhill in a hurry and can find teammates while going full speed. Has an extra gear, which was something that was missing from this year’s Duke team. Really bouncing and explosive and has blow-by speed. I’m not sure he’s a one and done but he’s a really exciting player who will be a highlight reel at the college level. It’ll be interesting to see if Duke hands him the reins or how much run he gets next year.

Jordan Smith Jr. – PG/SG – Paul VI (Arkansas) – Showed the speed and burst we’ve come to expect from him. Really a blur in the open court while staying under control. Explosive and smooth.

Anthony Thompson – SF – Western Reserve Academy (Ohio State) – A good shot-maker for his size. Has a lot of upside and is just kind of figuring out his game and how good he can be. Has the size/athleticism to be a high level rebounder when he decides to mix it up down low.

See where these guys rank in next year’s draft and in the 2028 draft.
