NBA Draft Prospect Joel Embiid
7-0 – Center – Kansas
A physical specimen with legit center size and unlimited upside. Another injury adds concern about his ability to stay healthy through a full NBA season.
Pros
Cameroon born big man who is very new to the game of basketball but plays with great instincts and has outstanding physical attributes. A standout defender who shows the potential to be a very good shot blocker.
Has great height, broad shoulders, long arms and good strength. Has shown rapid improvement and seems to be just scratching the surface of his potential. Has the length and leaping ability to play high above the rim and has very high upside.
Has come along as an offensive player and knows his role and his limits. Shows a decent jump hook and drop step in the lane. Shows good understanding of the game, despite his lack of experience, and finds the open man well.
Cons
Must improve his aggressiveness on both ends of the floor and improve his timing as a shot blocker. Still has a lot to learn about the game of basketball but seems to be putting in all of the effort to do so.
Injuries have become a major concern. First a stress fracture in his back, now a stress fracture in his foot. It’s hard to imagine a team risking a top 3 pick on an injured player…
Projection: top 7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft
