Wayne Selden NBA Draft Scouting Report

6-5 – Shooting Guard – Kansas

A well built and athletic shooting guard who hasn’t developed as quickly as we thought.

Pros
Has good size, strength and athleticism for the shooting guard position with broad shoulders, long arms and excellent leaping ability. A great dunker who can finish with highlight reel dunks and score after contact.

Overpowers smaller defenders and uses his physical tools well to score in the lane. Is a solid rebounder and has good potential as a defender due to his physical tools.

Gets good elevation on his jumper and shoots with nice form.

Solid defender who plays a smart game and understands how to get himself and his teammates into position.

Cons
Must continue to improve his ball handling skills and his shooting. Has developed a lot more slowly than we thought and has yet to become a consistent threat from three point range.

Needs to become a better distributor and continue to work on his dribble-drive game.

Has good but not great court awareness and needs to become a student of the game and improve his feel and timing.

Projection: possible second round pick in the 2016 or 2017 NBA Draft
