V.J. King NBA Draft Scouting Report

6-7 – 190 – SF – Louisville

Highly skilled wing player with a polished offensive game. King has nice size and fluid athleticism.

King is well built for the NBA with good height and length (6-9 wingspan) and terrific open court ability. He excels in an up tempo game and is lethal in transition, both in getting to the cup and spacing the floor with his shooting ability.

He’s got an advanced offensive game including a nice mid range jumper and excellent range to NBA 3. He gets great elevation on his shot, has good form and is overall extremely polished for a young player. King is also an excellent passer with nice vision and a good understanding of ball movement.

He’s become a high level three point shooter who looks the part of an NBA 3 and D prospect. He’s deadly on step back and fade away jumpers, with a high release point that is difficult to defend.

Runs the floor well and is adept at attacking the rim and drawing fouls. Is very creative with the ball and difficult to guard one on one.

Has active hands on defense and uses his length well to lock up his man.

Needs to add strength. Needs to develop a killer instinct and learn to takeover big games.

Has all the tools to be a great defender but still has a lot to learn and needs to up his level of intensity on D.

Projection: late first to mid second round pick in the 2018 or 2019 NBA Draft
