Tyler Zeller Scouting Report

6,11 – Center – North Carolina

Zeller didn’t come to UNC as an elite prospect and for a while it looked like the NBA might not be in his future but he has improved each season, has gained strength and agility and now looks like a potential lottery pick.

Pros

Very fast up and down the court and hustles hard. Great in transition and dunks the ball fluidly and easily on the fast break. Hard worker inside who gets a lot of rebounds with pure hustle and proper positioning.  Has some good back to the basket moves and is a capable scorer. Fierce dunker with great hops and long arms.

Late bloomer who looks to have a lot of upside left. Very good agility and mobility for a big and puts a lot of pressure on opposing centers with the way he gets up and down the floor. Developing a nice mid range jump shot and is a very good free throw shooter (76%).

Cons

Needs to cut down on turnovers and make better passes and decisions with the ball. Will have to continue to add strength to bang with NBA centers. Not a great shot blocker despite his jumping ability and needs to get better timing on defense. Can get pushed out of position too easily.
