NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
POSITION: SF | FROM: Virginia | HT: 6-9 | WT: 206 |
BORN: 6/18/00 | YEAR: Jr. | WING: NA | REACH: NA |
Draft Notes
Murphy transferred to Virginia from Rice University, bringing his sweet shooting stroke to the ACC.
A big wing with good length, Murphy is a tough match up for opposing SG/SFs with his size and ability to space the floor. He’s proving to be a lethal 3pt shooter who will make his living at the next level spacing the floor and draining shots from deep.
He’s got an easy, smooth release and has deep range on his shot.
Murphy has decent handles for his size and some ability to get into the lane and get to the rim. He’s not the most explosive player and doesn’t yet have the strength to finish through contact but there’s more to his game than just 3pt shooting.
If he keeps up his hot shooting he’ll get a lot more buzz as a first rounder, either in 2021 or 2022.
