Trevor Mbakwe NBA Scouting Report

NBA Draft Prospect Trevor Mbakwe

6,8 – Power Forward – Minnesota
Coming off of a major knee injury – going into his 6th year in college.
Pros
Powerful and explosive rebounder (when healthy) with a nose for the ball. Plays with passion and intensity and really gets after it on defense. Strong bodied with good leaping ability and agility. Cleans the glass on both ends of the floor and is also a decent shot blocker. Scores mostly on put backs and lobs in the lane but knows his role and doesn’t force the issue on offense. Shoots a high percentage from the field and has shown good improvement from the foul line.

A hard worker who gives his best effort every game. This work ethic should help in his rehab and getting back in top shape.

Cons
The knee injury will be a concern and could hurt his draft stock a little bit. Does not have ideal height to play power forward in the NBA. An older player – good for maturity but means he could be closer to his ceiling.
Projection: mid to late first round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft
