NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
Draft Notes
A big power guard who plays with good pace and shows vision as a passer. Has all the physical tools you look for in a prospect and should develop into a solid pro, either NBA or overseas.
Grimes is a big, broad-shouldered combo guard who has good handles, nice quickness and is a load for opposing point guards to handle. He plays an attacking style and is always a threat to take it to the hole. He’s got a quick first step and a lot of wiggle for a big guard.
Shows a nice crossover and really knows how to get defenders off balance.
Has solid form on his jumper and should develop into a solid three point shooter from NBA range. Can hit the step-back jumper and does a nice job of getting separation.
Grimes is dangerous in transition thanks to his size and ball-handling ability. Shows true point guard skills and does a good job of rewarding his front-court players with easy buckets.
Lacks effort and intensity on the defensive end. Swipes at the ball too often and needs to do a better job of sliding his feet and playing fundamentally sound defense, and giving better effort.
Needs to get better with his three point accuracy and get a quicker release on his jumper.
Comparisons
- Antonio Daniels
- Emmanuel Mudiay.
- A better Frank Williams.
