NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
|POSITION: C||FROM: Seton Hall|
|HT: 7-1||WT: 240|
|BORN: NA||YEAR: Jr.||WING: 7-5 1/4||REACH: 9-4 1/2|
A physical specimen with all the tools to become a solid NBA big man. Has rare shot blocking ability and big upside as a defender/rebounder/enforcer.
Obiagu is well built for the pro game with long, strong arms, a solid frame and quick leaping ability. His ability to protect the rim and defend in the paint will make him a highly valued prospect on draft day, even if his offensive game is a work in progress.
He shows great timing as a shot blocker, staying on his feet until the right moment and then bouncing into the air with impressive speed. His long arms and quick hops allow him to catch up to the ball and cover a lot of space.
Does a nice job on the offensive glass, showing good awareness and fighting hard for position. Isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint and is strong with the ball once he gets it. A difference maker in the rebounding game.
A work in progress on the offensive end, Obiagu is not likely to be a primary option scoring the ball. Needs to catch the ball better and make more assert moves.
Very raw in the low post with average footwork at this stage in his development.
A terrible free throw shooter.
Needs to avoid the silly fouls.
