NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
Draft Notes
Emmitt Williams is a heart and hustle type of player who is also a big time athlete. He brings a ton of passion and energy to the court and he excels at doing the dirty work of rebounding, defending, running the floor and getting after loose balls. He’s not a polished player but has all the physical tools to develop into a good NBA prospect. He’s the type of teammate you’d love to go to battle with.
You can’t teach heart and hustle. Williams is the type of player who can change the game without putting up big scoring numbers, thanks to his ability to defend, rebound and out work opponents. He’s a big undersized for the PF position but makes up for it with his physical play, hustle and high end athleticism.
A versatile defender who can guard inside or out, Williams has quick feet and good straight line speed, allowing him to contest on the perimeter and he’s got the strength to guard in the paint.
On offense Williams does most of his work in the paint and is a ferocious offensive rebounder. He uses his strength and leaping ability to compete for rebounds and is always a threat on the offensive glass. He changes ends well and is dangerous in transition, thanks to his hustle, speed and ability to finish at the rim.
Williams is still developing his offensive skill set and doesn’t yet have a consistent outside shot. He’ll have to expand his game and work hard on his ball-handling skills to reach his potential at the next level.
He doesn’t have ideal height for the PF position but might add another inch or two over the next few seasons.
Comparisons
- Reminds of Kenneth Faried
- with some Jeremi Grant.
