D.J. Carton

POSITION: PGFROM: MarquetteHT: 6-2WT: 190

Draft Notes

Marquette gets the Ohio State transfer and they’re getting a good one. In 20 games for the Buckeyes Carton put up 10ppg, 3ast and 2.8 rbs on great shooting percentages, while showing off his plus athleticism with a number of poster finishes. Coach Wojo should be able to bring the best out of Carton and he should be a star down the road for the program.

Carton projects as a great college point guard with a chance to develop into a good NBA player. He’s got a solid frame, good bounce and very high basketball IQ.

He plays an efficient game, taking good shots, making good decisions and understanding when to force the issue and when to make the easy play.

Carton moves well without the ball and doesn’t loose interest if the ball’s not in his hands.

And then there’s the bounce. Carton can really get off the floor and he’ll catch defenders by surprise with his suddenness and great vertical burst.

Carton has been forthcoming with his decision to leave Ohio State and focus on his mental health, which takes a lot of courage and character.
