Draft Notes
Rioux has size that we’ve never seen before. He’s listed at a mind-numbing 7-9 and at least 300lbs. He towers over every opponent on the floor and he uses his colossal size to control the paint on both ends of the court.
He’s not a fast player, as expected, but he can get up and down the court fairly well.
He barely needs to leave his feet to dunk the basketball. He’s got good hands, catches the ball well and has a decent touch around the rim.
He’s got a lot of strength and is impossible to move in the paint.
The biggest question mark about his name translating to the next level is obviously his speed and athleticism. He’s very slow by NBA standards and will have trouble keeping up with the pace of the NBA game.
Look for Rioux to take the Zach Edey route and stay in school for a few years developing his game and improving his body. If things go right he’ll be a major star at the college level and will have a chance to bring his game-changing size to the next level.
