SF – 6,7 – San Diego State
Leonard is coming into the draft after two good years at SDSU. He is a complete basketball player who does a lot of little things to help his team win. Projects as a mid first rounder, although some mocks have him as high as the top 7 or 8 picks.
Pros
Versatile player with very good strength and athleticism. Solid defender and rebounder who plays with a good motor and doesn’t take plays off. Puts a lot of pressure on the ball and is committed to defense and winning. Can post up smaller defenders on offense and use his strength to get to the rim. Developing a nice mid range game and has a knack for creating space for his own shot and is also good at finding the open man. Well built with long arms and huge hands.
Cons
Projects as more of small forward type but lacks a great outside shot. This area of his game could come along quickly but for now he is more of a slasher who scores close to the lane. Not the most fluid athlete but gets good elevation and can play above the rim.
