NBA Draft Prospect – Alec Burks

SG – 6,6 – Colorado

Burks is a very long and thin shooting guard with a good handle, good penetrating skills and a knack for scoring.  He has an improving three point shot but still has work to do in that area.  He is coming to the NBA after just two seasons of college ball and may take some time to adjust to the size and pace of the pro game.

Pros

Burks has great size for the 2 guard position and uses that size well.  He can score in the lane and has an effective mid range game.  He is young and looks to have a lot more upside to reach and has a high ceiling.  Very good free throw shooter and knows how to draw fouls.  Good passer and usually plays within the offense and makes good decisions with the ball.  Can get is own shot.

Cons

Burks is not an elite athlete and he may have trouble staying in front of quicker guards on defense.  Not a high flyer or great dunker but uses his length well.  Needs to improve his outside shooting. Shot less than 30% from college three point range last season but looks to have good from on his shot and should improve in this area.  Will have to add muscle and weight to his 193 pound frame.
