NBA Draft Prospect Marcus Smart
6-4 – Combo Guard – Oklahoma State
Smart probably would have been the #1 overall pick had he chosen to come out in 2013. Now he might land in the top 4-8 picks and whichever team gets him will be getting a heck of a player and a true warrior on the court.
Pros
Extremely strong and powerful guard who is a load to handle on the wing and in the paint. Has great lateral quickness and can get by defenders and into the lane well. Compact body makes him hard to stop under the basket or when attacking the rim.
He’s a very intelligent and crafty player and is a good decision maker (most of the time…).
Excellent defender with active hands and great strength. Can really fill up the stat sheet, getting a lot of steals and blocked shots and rebounds. His greatest strengths might be his passion and intensity plus his uncanny feel for the game. Reads plays well on both sides of the ball and plays with passion, intensity and intelligence.
Cons
Does not have ideal height for an NBA shooting guard and is not a natural point guard. An average outside shooter who needs to be more consistently accurate from three point range.
Not a true above the rim player.
Projection: Top 6 Pick in the 2014 NBA Draft
