Karl Towns NBA Draft Scouting Report

7-0 – Center – Kentucky

Karl-Anthony Towns is a unique player. A 7-footer who can score in the post or stretch the floor. Highly skilled on the offensive end and oozing with potential.

Pros
Towns has a versatile, well rounded and highly skilled offensive package. At 7 feet tall, Towns is a nightmare to match up against. He can post up smaller defenders or beat opposing centers with his perimeter skills.

Has a picture perfect jumper with a smooth, quick release. It is nearly impossible to block his jumper due to his great height and high release.

Handles the ball very well and can take it to the rim with spin moves, hesitation dribbles and a decent crossover. Has polished footwork in the post and an improving back to the basket game including a baby hook shot, nice drop step and an old school sky hook.

A top level passer who operates well out of the high post. Keeps the ball moving well and plays with his head up. Very alert and has a nice feel for the game.

A much improved rim protector – who will continue to improve as he adds strength. Has grown into more of a leader and shown a competitive fire.

Cons
Needs to assert himself more in the paint and use his great height to his advantage.

Will have to add strength, loose weight and develop more of a mean streak in order to dominate and live up to his potential.

Comps
Has hints of LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol in his game, with his inside/out ability and solid interior defense.
