Draft Notes
Furphy is a long, lean and smooth shooting guard from Australia who has a picture perfect jump shot and legit NBA size. At 6-8 or 6-9 he towers over most other guards and can see over the defense and get his shot off over defenders.
He’s not a super twitchy athlete but is smooth and fast in the open court and covers a lot of ground. And he’s got some springs in his legs plus lots of length, allowing him to get above the rim with ease.
His primary NBA skill right now is his 3pt shooting ability but he does show good court vision and understanding of how to keep the ball moving, plus an emerging dribble drive game.
He finished his freshman season at Kansas shooting 47/35/76 for 9ppg and nearly 5rpg.
He’ll have to add strength and improve his technique on the defensive end but he’s already a very capable defender who shows some really good flashes. He’s definitely more than just a one dimensional player.
