Draft Notes

Evans is a big guard with natural power and the type of frame and game that translates well to the next level. He’s a good (but not great) shooter who can score from three levels. He’s a rugged defender and rebounder who plays a complete game. Although he’s a junior, he’s young for his class and has plenty of upside to develop.

Strengths

  • Has NBA size and athleticism – broad shoulders, good length and strength
  • Could contribute early in his career, especially with defense, rebounding and ball movement
  • Can hit the three pointer and has a project-able shot
  • Very smooth and skilled with the ball – can get into the lane, has nice touch from mid range and a nice array of moves at the rim
  • Can create for himself and for others
  • Has sneaky quickness and decent explosion for a big guard
  • Can guard multiple positions and switch on the PnR
  • A feisty defender with quick hands. Fills up the stat sheet
  • A high BBIQ player

Weaknesses

  • An average free throw shooter
  • Not yet consistent enough with his three point shooting
  • Doesn’t have elite above the rim ability

Comparisons

  • Eric Gordon
  • Xavier Henry
