Dion Waiters Scouting Report

NBA Draft Prospect Dion Waiters

6,4 – Shooting Guard – Syracuse

Sophomore who came off the bench but was the second leading scorer and arguably the best player for the Orange.

Pros

Aggressive offensive player who can get hot and put up points in a hurry. Strong and compact player who can really score in the lane and from mid range. Has great spin move and hesitation move to get past defenders and has a variety of ways to finish around the rim. Has improved his shot selection and hits a high percentage from the field. Very good free throw shooter who has also improved his three point accuracy.

Good one on one defender who can lock down opposing guards. Gets a lot of steals and is always a threat to pick off the ball. Plays with passion and shows emerging leadership qualities. Finds teammates well and is a willing passer. Uses his broad shoulders and strength well to make up for lack of ideal height.

Cons

Still has work to do to become a more consistent threat from three point land. Does not have ideal size for the NBA shooting guard position. Very good but not elite athlete.
