NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
Darius Bazley has de-committed from Syracuse and will head straight to the G-League.
Bazley is a very mobile and fluid combo forward who has good length and an advanced skill set to go along with above average athleticism. He can score from inside and out and is a quick and wiry athlete who can out run and out jump most opponents.
A unique all-around talent who can score, pass, rebound and defend. Bazley has the kind of size, length and skill set that makes NBA scouts drool.
On offense he can face up from the perimeter and operate in the high post, where he can hit the mid range shot or find cutters for easy buckets. His vision and feel for the game really stand out and he has good handles for this stage in his development, showing the ability to drive the lane with either hand. He can make plays off the dribble and he plays with his head up, making good decisions with the ball.
On defense Bazley can be a true menace, using his length to change shots in the lane and to disrupt the passing lanes. He has good defensive instincts and reacts quickly to the play. He reads passing lanes well and fills up the stat sheet with blocks and steals. He’s got extremely high upside as a defender and can guard all over the court.
A very good rebounder on both ends of the floor, Bazley can take a defensive board and go coast to coast and he also does a nice job of pushing the pace in transition with his up-court passing.
Fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game, Bazley is a well-rounded talent with high end athleticism that has future lottery pick written all over him.
Very thin and light, especially in his upper body. Needs to put in a lot of work in the weight room.
Doesn’t project as a #1 scoring option at the NBA level, but more of complimentary scorer.
A more advanced Trevor Ariza.
