Every year in late May or early June I take a look ahead at next year’s draft class in a more comprehensive way (here’s my super early 2026 look from last year). It’s a good time of year to take stock of the upcoming draft class. By this time of the year we’ve seen all …
It’s time for some fun: The sixth annual NBA Draft Superlatives! The NBA Draft Superlatives might seem like just a silly exercise (and yes, I do it mostly for fun) but every time I do it I gain a new perspective about the draft class. For instance, the first two categories (50-point game and Hall …
At this point in the draft cycle the pool of available talent is pretty well set. The NCAA withdrawal deadline passed on May 27 and greatly reduced the depth of the class. There is one more withdrawal deadline on June 13th which could see a few international players withdraw, but that won’t have a big …
And The NBA Draft Just Got Weaker The list of high level prospects forgoing the riches of the NBA draft for the even richer NIL riches of college basketball is far too long to name here but it’s having a big impact on this year’s NBA Draft and has changed the landscape of the 2027 …
The combine doesn’t really matter, until it does. NBA scouts spend years evaluating prospects and have very well formed opinions by the time the annual NBA Draft combine roles around each May. And yet each year we see one (or a few prospects) elevate their draft stock in a major way thanks to the combine …
This is my favorite area of this draft. The top of the draft has plenty of intrigue and we’re sure to see some drama on draft day but for my money, the most interesting part of the 2026 NBA Draft is the second half of the lottery. This is the area where guards will dominate …
The Mother’s Day Lottery drawing was a fertile time for a few lucky franchises and was a total MFer for a few unlucky teams 1) The Wizards Win It All! That’s a phrase we don’t hear everyday but with the Wizards winning the no.1 overall pick to add to their exciting young core we could …
The Washington Wizards have won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery and will have the pick of the litter on draft day. Congrats to the Wizards and to the Utah Jazz, who will pick second. The Grizzlies moved up to land the no.3 pick and the Bulls will pick at no.4 By far the biggest losers …
After so many high level prospects decided to stay in school the very strong and deep 2026 draft class now has considerably less depth. It’s still a very strong group at the top but the late first and second round depth has been depleted. This leaves the door open for some unheralded prospects and lesser …
While much of the early hype for the international prospects of this draft cycle focused on the “Next Star” pipeline from Australia, the latest declarations (and non-declarations) have pivoted the focus back to the traditional big-man factories of Europe. A number of the top names on this list played college ball this past season but …
The 2026 NBA Draft Lottery, which will take place on Sunday, May 10th, has something for everyone. We have the usual cast of lovable losers, we have a title contender in line for a top four pick and we have unprotected picks changing hands from atrocious trades. And of course we have the OKC Thunder …
The annual Nike Hoop’s Summit event is one of the single most important weeks of scouting of the year. While most draft fans are locked-in on the current draft class, some of the top prospects for next year’s class are putting in work in front of hoards of NBA scouts As you already know 2027 …
