Draft Notes

A veteran point guard who has become the heart and soul of the UCLA team. Holiday has brought his
game to a new level this year and is making a case for the first round. He’s tough to keep out of the lane, can hit the 3 and plays like an NBA level point guard.

Strengths

  • Speed
  • Has a strong and compact frame with quick twitch and lots of open court speed
  • Has good length for size which, combined with his strength, allow him to play bigger than his listed height
  • Plays a downhill style and pushes the ball well
  • A winner – brings it every night and leaves it all on the floor
  • A very efficient shooter, hitting nearly 50% from the floor, over 40% from 3 and over 80% from the line
  • Makes plays with the game on the line and hits gutsy shots

Weaknesses

  • Has average size for position and isn’t the most explosive leaper
  • Needs to develop his point guard skills, including when to back it out and set up the offense
  • Can be turnover prone and doesn’t have a great assist to turnover ratio for a PG

Comparisons

  • Tyronn Lue
  • Poor man’s Mike Conley
  • His ceiling is Kyle Lowry
