It’s tempting to say that “these are the top 10 freshmen in high school basketball” but honestly, who really knows. There are so many talented players coming up, some of whom have already gained national attention and some who are just starting to be discovered.
So instead I’ll say that here is a list of 10 freshmen near the top of the 2027 recruiting class, with very, very bright basketball futures:
10 Elite Freshmen In High School Basketball
- Paul Osaruyi – 6-9 – Glendale, AZ (Canada) – It takes about 3 seconds of action to see that Osaruyi is a future NBA player. The mobile 6-9 forward/center is just 15 years old (until February) but already looks the part of a high major player with a very clear NBA future. He might not end up as the best prospect in his class but he’s one of the most certain-to-succeed players I’ve ever seen at his age. He’s strong and quick, is developing good footwork, has touch around the rim and plays above the rim with ease. He’s a really good rebounder on both ends, using his size, strength and length to dominate on the boards. We don’t have an official wingspan measurement but he’s definitely long. Osaruyi is a high-energy player who defends with intensity, runs the floor hard and seems to have some of the intangible skills you can’t teach. He can even step out and hit the 3 when given space, and this should become a bigger part of his game going forward.
